Choosing a good value, reliable internet service can be very confusing. I have an extensive knowledge of broadband internet services available in our region, and can help you find the best solution for your needs.
In general, you will have to choose between the following:
* Dialup (Slow, and blocks all phone calls while you are on the internet. Dialup can be very cheap however.) * Satellite (Fast, and is getting to be quite reasonable value, presuming you are able to access the Federal Government's Australian Broadband Guarantee subsidy scheme) * Wireless (Less delay than satellite, but is quite expensive. Very fast if an adequate signal can be obtained, which may require an antenna mounted to your house roof) * ADSL (If you are in or near some towns, such as Dingee, Raywood, Pyramid Hill, Serpentine, or generally any town with government type buildings such as police stations, you may be able to get ADSL (normal phone line broadband), which is fast and well priced compared to the alternatives. This is very much dependant on your distance to the phone exchange, phone line quality and other factors. Your phone exchange must be ADSL enabled. Most small towns do not have access to this, and if you are more than 5-10km's out of town, you have very little chance of getting it.) The federal government are claiming that they are going to build a "National Broadband Network". If this ever happens, (I will believe it when I see it) It is only to cover 98% of the nations population, which means roughly 420,000 people will miss out, including many towns in the Loddon Shire. (In other words, dont hold your breath.)
I can help you to find out what is available to you and set you up with the most suitable solution for your home or business. |
